I have spent a LOT of time doing coloring pages with students. One of the ways I used to get the best “listening ears” while I was reading to a classroom of students was by letting them get settled in with markers and a choice of coloring page. With hands busy shading away, there was less mischief and I actually had comprehensive and introspective responses from students.
